Designed the UI of mobile and web apps for an AI-powered educational platform using Figma. The Plaito(MVP) received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with over 500K+ active users on the App Store.

Overview

I worked as a UX/UI Designer on the Plaito project. I designed landing pages, marketing materials, a web-based platform, a mobile app, and a tablet app using tools like Figma, Clickup, Slack, Webflow, and the Flowbite Design system.

Plaito is an AI-powered tutor app aimed at saving students time, enhancing academic performance, and unlocking their full potential. The platform provides personalized 1:1 tutoring, offering features such as essay writing assistance, flashcards, summarization, homework help, test preparation, and performance insights. It uses student data to deliver customized feedback, helping students stay motivated and achieve their academic goals.

Challenge

The challenge was to create an AI-powered educational platform that significantly enhances the learning experience by helping students learn more quickly and efficiently. The platform analyzes students' work and provides personalized feedback tailored to each student's needs by leveraging advanced AI technology.

Problem

Target Audience & Problem: Traditional education and tutoring methods can be time-consuming, expensive, and ineffective for many students. These challenges affect diverse groups, each with unique needs and frustrations that current methods fail to address.

User Personas:

Primary: Sarah, the College Student

  • Demographics: Female, 20 years old, nursing student, living on campus.
  • Frustrations: Struggles with coursework, overwhelmed with studying, lacks confidence in exams.
  • Behaviors: Seeks extra help, procrastinates, uses flashcards and study guides, enjoys technology, prefers audio and visual learning.
  • Goals: Improve grades, prepare for tests, understand nursing concepts, use a personalized and engaging tutoring app.

Secondary: Mark, Standardized Test Taker

  • Demographics: Male, 28 years old, married, working full-time, preparing for the GMAT.
  • Frustrations: Limited study time, struggles with time management during tests, feels anxious about the GMAT.
  • Behaviors: Studies in short bursts, highly motivated, uses online prep materials, attends test prep classes.
  • Goals: Score well on the GMAT, manage time during the test, receive affordable and flexible personalized tutoring.

Future: Alex, the High School Student

  • Demographics: Male, 16 years old, aspiring engineer, attending public high school.
  • Frustrations: Difficulty with homework, struggles with math and science, easily distracted, pressured to perform well.
  • Behaviors: Distracted by social media and games, uses online resources, participates in after-school activities.
  • Goals: Improve grades and test scores, get help with math and science, use a fun and motivating study app.

Process

Results

The Plaito team reached a milestone of 5,000 users within 90 days of its launch. The success was attributed to the collaborative efforts across various departments. The Plaito MVP received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with over 1 Million active users on the App Store.
