Overview
I worked as a Senior UX/UI Designer on this project. My tasks included designing landing pages, marketing materials, a web-based platform, a mobile app, and a design system based on Material Design. I used tools like Figma, Jira, Slack, Confluence, and Angular Material.
Challenge
The goal was to create a platform for homeowners to hire, and for service providers to find, home improvement projects. Existing platforms overwhelm users with excessive calls and messages and often frustrate service providers due to inefficient lead systems.
Problem
Homeowners:
- Receive too many calls and messages.
- Struggle to find the right service provider.
- Often get incorrect estimates leading to higher costs.
- Providers approach without appointments.
Service Providers:
- Face tough vetting processes and upfront fees.
- Miss projects despite quick responses.
- Platforms charge high service fees.
- Homeowners' unclear project requirements create misconceptions about costs.
Solution
- Develop a platform for homeowners to post jobs and get bids from vetted service providers.
- Provide exact estimates based on location, experience, and job needs.
- Eliminate third-party advertisers for better data protection.
- Easy onboarding for providers with no upfront fees.
- Algorithm-based project assignments for fair distribution.
Process
UX Design:
- Conducted user research and created empathy maps, personas, and problem statements.
- Developed user stories, journey maps, value propositions, and user flows.
- Created low-fidelity wireframes and tested them internally.
UI Design:
- Developed a design style guide and system in Figma.
- Created high-fidelity wireframes and clickable prototypes.
- Launched the MVP and gathered user feedback to improve the platform.
User Testing and Feedback
- Addressed user confusion by creating landing pages with videos and images to explain the platform, enhancing user understanding and engagement.
